Abac
374 products
Abac is a brand of air compressors for professional use. In this collection you will find Abac screw compressors, used to produce compressed air in workshops, on construction sites and in industrial plants where use is frequent and continuous.
Types of compressor in the collection
- Oil-injected screw compressors: available in different power ratings, from a few kW to over 40 kW, and with different working pressures.
- Tank-mounted versions: the compressor is mounted on an air receiver, useful for having a reserve and reducing motor starts.
- Versions without receiver: designed to be connected to a receiver or to an existing network.
- Variable speed models: some designations indicate the presence of the inverter, which matches the power to actual air consumption.
How to choose
The main criteria are the air flow rate needed for the tools connected, the working pressure, the electrical supply available and the space for installation. How many hours a day the machine will run also matters: for intensive use the screw compressor is the most suitable choice.
AMES works by quotation: tell us the points of use, the pressure and the flow rate and we will propose the most suitable Abac model.

Frequently asked questions: Abac
What is an Abac air compressor used for and which jobs can it power?
The compressor produces compressed air that powers pneumatic tools and equipment such as spray guns, impact wrenches and chipping hammers. In the workshop and on site it lets you run several light tools at different work points. Screw compressors are designed for frequent, prolonged use, while smaller models are enough for occasional jobs. Start from the tools you will use at the same time to work out the air flow you need.
Which standards apply to a compressed air receiver?
Compressed air receivers are pressure equipment and in Europe fall under Directive 2014/68/EU, known as the PED (Pressure Equipment Directive). The receiver's data plate usually shows the maximum working pressure and the volume, which you should check before buying. Installation, periodic inspections and use must follow the manufacturer's instructions and Italian regulations on pressure equipment. Do not modify the receiver or the safety valve.
What receiver capacity should I choose for an Abac compressor?
In the Abac catalogue the vertical receivers go up to 3000 litres, with a pressure of 12 bar, and 2000-litre and 1000-litre versions are also available. Capacity affects the reserve of air available and how often the motor starts. A larger receiver is useful when you run several tools together or when the compressor works intermittently. To match it to the compressor's air flow you need the figure given in the technical data sheet.
What is a refrigerated air dryer used for on a compressed air line?
The refrigerated dryer cools the compressed air so that part of the moisture condenses and is removed. It reduces water and rust in the pipework and protects tools and paintwork from moisture. Where the air is used for spray painting or for sensitive instruments, air quality matters a great deal. The required purity level refers to the ISO 8573-1 standard, which classifies compressed air quality, and the choice should be agreed with the technician.
How do I read Abac dryer model codes, for example DRY 210 (E6) or COOL 72 (C3)?
The name indicates the series, while the number in brackets identifies the model within the manufacturer's range. Next to it you will find voltage and frequency: 230/60 means 230 V at 60 Hz, while 460/3/60 means a three-phase supply at 460 V and 60 Hz, with the 3 indicating three-phase. Before buying, check that voltage and frequency match your electrical panel, and compare the air flow with that of the compressor.
Which Abac pneumatic tools are used in the workshop and for maintenance?
In workshops and body shops you will often find the orbital sander, the spray gun for painting, the chipping hammer and the impact wrench. The orbital sander can have dust extraction, which helps reduce dust during sanding. The impact wrench is used to tighten and loosen bolts with interchangeable sockets. For the G-540F gun, for example, the 1.5 mm nozzle should be chosen according to the paint viscosity specified by the manufacturer.
How do I safely use an Abac compressed air kit with a tyre inflator?
A compressed air kit includes hoses, fittings and accessories for use with the compressor. Before connecting it, check that the accessory's maximum pressure is higher than the compressor's. With the tyre inflator, do not exceed the pressure specified for the tyre and check it with a pressure gauge. Keep hoses in good condition, disconnect the air before changing accessory and never aim the air jet at people.
