Hex Keys (Allen Keys)

Allen keys, or hex keys, are used to tighten and loosen socket head screws, which are very common on machinery, furniture and equipment. They are sold both in sets and as single keys.

Types included in the collection

• L-shaped hex keys, including ball-end or long-arm versions
• T-handle keys, with a handle for a more comfortable grip
• Torx keys, for six-lobe star screws
• Folding sets and key-ring sets, to keep all the sizes within reach

How to choose

Choose the size according to the screw: metric sets in millimetres or imperial sets in inches, depending on use. The ball end lets you work with the key at an angle to the screw, the long version reaches recessed screws, while the T handle gives more tightening force.
