Wooden Roof Windows
24 products
Timber roof windows have a timber frame, warm to the eye and to the touch, and are used in attics and inhabited lofts where a natural look is wanted. In this collection you will find the Fakro models.
What you will find
- Dual-opening timber windows from the preSelect MAX series, which open both as centre-pivot and as top-hung.
- White timber windows, for those who want a light interior.
- Centre-pivot timber windows, some with timber stated as FSC certified in the model data sheet.
How to choose
Start from the size of the opening and the pitch of the roof, then choose the timber finish (natural or white) and the type of opening. Timber is more sensitive to moisture than PVC: in very humid rooms, such as bathrooms and kitchens, it is worth comparing the two versions. The flashing depends on the type of roofing; for blinds and accessories, the model code must be given.

Frequently asked questions: Wooden Roof Windows
How do I measure the opening for a wooden roof window?
Start from the size of the opening in the roof, meaning the width and height of the hole, and from the pitch of the roof slope. The model is chosen according to the size of the opening and the roof pitch. Then check the overall dimensions given on the product datasheet, so you can be sure the frame fits into the opening.
What is the difference between a centre-pivot and a dual-action wooden roof window?
A centre-pivot window turns on a central axis and opens from the inside in a simple, traditional way. A dual-action wooden window, such as the Fakro preSelect MAX, can be opened both as a centre-pivot and as a top-hung projecting window, so it offers two ways to ventilate the room depending on the season and on where the window is located.
White or natural wooden roof windows: how do I choose?
White wooden windows, such as the Fakro FPU-V or FTU-V, give lighter interiors and go well with light ceilings and walls. Natural wood ones keep the warmth of exposed timber. The choice depends on the style of the loft room and the light you want in the space.
What does FSC mean on the datasheet of a wooden window?
The FSC mark indicates that the timber comes from forests managed according to responsible management criteria. In the collection, some Fakro centre-pivot windows, such as the FTP-V U5 FSC and FTP-V U3 FSC, carry this indication on the model datasheet. Check the model datasheet before choosing, to confirm the declaration.
Are there electrically operated wooden roof windows?
Yes, there are electrically operated wooden centre-pivot windows with the Z-Wave protocol, such as some Fakro FTP-V and FTU-V models. They are operated with a remote control or with a home system compatible with the Z-Wave standard. Before buying, check compatibility with your system and the electrical supply available in the roof space.
Which opening type should I choose among Faelux roof windows?
Faelux windows differ by opening type, shown in the model name: top-hung, top-hung with pivot, and tilt-open. Compare the datasheet of each model to understand how the sash opens and how much space is needed inside, for example for a bed or a desk placed below the window.
How do I use and maintain a roof window safely?
Cleaning or maintaining a roof window from outside means working at height, so scaffolding or a fall-protection system is needed, as required by Italian Legislative Decree 81/2008 on workplace safety. Do not lean on the sill and do not climb onto the roof slope without protection. Regularly check the hinges, seals and handle.
