Sandpaper Sheets

Sheets, discs and triangles of abrasive paper for sanding and finishing wood, metal and surfaces to be painted, by hand or with portable sanders.

Types in the collection

• Abrasive discs with hook-and-loop backing of 150 and 225 mm, punched or unpunched (DeWalt, Makita, Fervi).
• Pre-punched sheets in part-sheet sizes for orbital sanders (DeWalt).
• Triangular and mouse-shaped sheets for detail sanders (Stanley).
• Abrasive papers with handle for hand sanding (Stanley).

How to choose

The grit determines the job: low grits (for example 40-60) remove a lot of material, high grits (for example 240-320) finish. The shape, size and hole pattern must match the pad of the machine, while the hook-and-loop backing lets you change the sheet in a few seconds.

Work through the grades: start with the coarsest grit needed to remove the imperfections and move on to progressively finer grits, so the surface stays uniform. On paints and primers it is best not to skip too many grits.
