Frequently asked questions: Kimia
What are Kimitech additives for mortars such as ELASTOFIX or EP-RG used for?

They are synthetic resins added to the mortar during mixing to improve its waterproofing and adhesion. Kimitech ELASTOFIX is indicated for waterproofing mortars and adhesives, while EP-RG is used to increase the waterproofing and adhesion of mortars. The dosage must be followed precisely, as an excess can compromise setting. Use it only in the mortar indicated by the technical data sheet.

How is deteriorated concrete repaired with Kimia products?

For concrete repair, reference is made to the EN 1504 series of standards on repair products. First the deteriorated part is removed and the steel is cleaned, then a bonding agent such as ACR acrylic resin is applied, if the data sheet specifies it. Rusted steel is treated with the Soluzione Ruggine phosphating paint. For load-bearing structures, it is best to rely on a technician.

Which Kimia products are needed for external thermal insulation?

The collection includes the Betonfix Termorasa base coat and adhesive for the insulation system, the Kimitherm Corner PVC corner bead with mesh, the Alu Start aluminium starter profile and the T-Connect fixings for the insulation panels. The system should be chosen as a whole, according to the European Technical Assessment of the insulation system. Do not mix components from different systems without verification by the manufacturer.

The SIL BASE primer is an impregnating primer for siloxane systems, breathable and water-repellent, to be matched with the Sil Top finish. EASY is a wall paint based on acrylic resins in aqueous dispersion. For Deco and Hydro, read the data sheet for the substrate and the environment of use, and check the complete system before applying.

Is the Kimistone Antismog protective suitable for stone façades?

Kimistone Antismog is a hydro- and oil-repellent protective for façades, designed for stone materials and external surfaces. It creates a barrier against water, oil and atmospheric dirt. It should be applied to clean, dry surfaces, and before spreading the product, check absorption and compatibility on the data sheet. Test a small area before treating the whole façade.

How are the Kimia EPOX and POLY solvents used?

EPOX and POLY solvents are cleaning products for tools and for residues of Kimia resins. Use the solvent indicated on the data sheet of the product you used, not a generic solvent on the resins.
