Screw Eyes and Hooks

Screw hooks and eyes are small threaded metal fittings for hanging and hooking: screw hooks, eyes, rings and swing hooks. They are simple parts, used wherever a fixed anchor point is needed on timber or other supports, at home, in the garden and in the workshop.

How to choose

Look at the material: brass resists moisture well and has a neater appearance, while galvanised is suited to outdoor fixings. Then check the length and diameter of the thread, which must suit the support, and the thickness of the wire, which determines how much weight the hook can bear. For heavy loads it is worth checking the working load of the individual piece.

If in doubt, choose the thread according to the material you will be screwing into: wood threads are for beams and panels, while metric ones require a tapped hole or a nut.
