Reel tapes and tape measures

Reel tapes and tape measures are tools for measuring long distances: a graduated tape wound in a case, to be unrolled along the stretch to be measured and rewound with a crank or a spring return. They are used on site, in surveys and in setting out, where a rigid rule is not enough.

What you will find in the collection

• Open-frame reel tapes with fibreglass tape, with a crank for rewinding.
• Closed-case reel tapes, more compact, in lengths such as 30 m.
• Tape measures with steel tape, including rubber-coated versions.

How to choose

Choose the length according to the distances you need to measure and the tape material: fibreglass is light and flexible, steel is stiffer and more resistant. The open frame is handy for long runs, while the closed case protects the tape better from dirt.
