Crimped Wire Brushes

Crimped wire brushes are used to clean and prepare metal surfaces: they remove rust, old paint, weld scale and residue before painting, welding or finishing. Crimped wire works more gently than braided twisted wire, and is the usual choice for general-purpose cleaning.

Types of brush available

• Wheel brushes, for bench grinders or with a shank for drills.
• Cup brushes, for angle grinders, with steel or brass wire.
• Conical and end brushes, for corners, welds and hard-to-reach spots.
• Hand brushes and paint-style brushes with handle, for finishing work.

How to choose

The first thing that matters is the fitting: a shank for the drill or a threaded bore for the angle grinder. Then the diameter, which must be compatible with the machine and its maximum speed, and the wire material: steel is more aggressive, brass is gentler and suited to surfaces that must not be damaged.
