How to choose
The first factor is the weight and size of the leaf, which determine the load rating and the number of hinges or door closers. Then come the material of the frame (wood, aluminium, PVC), the side of opening and the environment: galvanised iron for indoors, stainless steel or brass where there is damp or where the part remains visible.
If you have a sample or a photo of the part to be replaced, send it to us: for quantities and availability we will prepare a quotation with delivery times.

Frequently asked questions: Window and Door Hardware
How do I choose a hinge for a door or a window?
The hinge is chosen according to the weight of the leaf and the type of window or door. The hinge with a U-bolt, such as item 100, is fixed differently from the plate hinge, such as item 161. With adjustable hinges, such as the adjustable item 96, the position of the leaf can be corrected even after fitting. For a heavy window or door choose sturdier hinges, in a suitable number. Check the pin diameter and the length.
When do I need a weld-on hinge?
Galvanised weld-on hinges, such as items 120 and 135, are fixed by welding to the frame or the leaf. They are needed when the frame is made of iron and you are working with a welder in the workshop or on site. For a wooden window, consider plate or U-bolt hinges, according to the manufacturer's data sheet. Check the frame material before deciding.
How does a door closer work and when is it needed?
The door closer automatically brings the door back after it has been opened, which is useful for doors that must close on their own, such as those on internal passages and offices. For door closers with controlled closing, the technical reference is the EN 1154 standard. Before fitting it, check the weight and width of the leaf, because the closing force must be adjusted to these data. The door closer does not replace an end stop.
Which door holder should I choose: hook, fixed-mount or automatic?
Automatic hook door holders hold the door still when it is opened. Fixed-mount ones are fastened to the floor or the wall and lock the leaf in the desired position. If the door has a door closer, choose a door holder that does not hinder its movement. Check the type of floor and the free space behind the door. The door holder does not replace a hinge in good condition.
What is the difference between one-prong and two-prong frame anchors?
Frame anchors are brackets that fix the frame to the wall and hold the window or door in place. The one-prong anchor goes in at one point only, while the two-prong anchor is fixed at two points, with more stability. For frames that must bear a greater weight, the two-prong version is better. Galvanised iron anchors resist rust better than untreated ones. Measure the depth of the frame before choosing.
How do I set the squaring bracket for window frames with reveals from 50 to 100 mm?
The adjustable squaring bracket item 4701 fits reveals between 50 and 100 mm, and the 10 mm pin goes into the designated hole in the frame. Set the size of the reveal, then fix the bracket to the window frame. Check that the sash closes without forcing. Check that the bracket is at 90 degrees with a spirit level before fixing it permanently.
Which strike plates and espagnolettes are needed to close a window?
Strike plates, such as items 650 and 655, are the fixed part that receives the hook or tongue of the fastening. Espagnolettes, such as item 310 and the Didieffe ones, are rods that transmit the closing action from the frame to the window. The strike plate dimensions must match the fastening. Check the hole spacing before buying, because otherwise the fastening will not engage.
Who uses window and door hardware: the window fitter or the private customer?
Window and door hardware is for the window fitter installing a new window and for anyone replacing a broken component during a renovation. The professional must check that the parts are compatible with the frame and with the work being done. Private customers can bring in the broken part or photograph it to find the equivalent. Dimensions, such as the 36x67 mm of the strike plate item 650, should be compared with the original.
