Frequently asked questions: Cranes and Telehandlers
What are a jib crane arm and a column-mounted jib crane used for?
A jib crane arm, such as the Probst KA, or a column-mounted jib crane, such as the ASSK, is used to lift and rotate loads in a fixed area, for example in a workshop, in a warehouse or along a production line. The arm moves the load over a limited radius, while the column or wall supports its weight. Check the capacity and the outreach before installation.
Which crane should you choose between a mobile crane, a wall-mounted arm and a column-mounted jib crane?
The mobile crane, such as the Probst Jumbo JWK, moves around the site or yard. The wall-mounted arm and the column-mounted jib crane work instead in a fixed area. Arms with adjustable reach or lateral travel cover several work points without moving the structure. Start from the capacity needed, the outreach and the space available.
What is an electric stacker and when is it needed?
The stacker lifts and moves loads in a warehouse, including pallets or heavy materials, without manual effort. The electric model, such as the Novomach N1646L or N1232ED, is used when handling is frequent. The manual Pramac model with a 1000 kg capacity is for less frequent loads. Choose according to the lifting height and the weight to be handled.
Which lifters are used for glass and transportable loads?
The Svelt Horizon glass lifter is designed to move slabs and glass. For other loads, transportable lifters can be considered, such as the Svelt Hercules, or lightweight folding lifters, in platform or fork versions. Always check the stated capacity and the type of load you need to move.
How do you use a manual hoist safely?
The manual hoist, such as the Svelt 720 and 730 models, is operated by hand. Before use, check the hook, chain and braking mechanism, and make sure the anchor point holds the load with a margin. Never lift people and do not exceed the capacity shown on the lifter's plate.
What periodic inspections are required for cranes and lifters?
D.Lgs. 81/2008 requires periodic inspections of lifting equipment, to be carried out by competent persons. Cranes, arms and trolleys require checks for wear on ropes, chains, hooks and fixings. Keep the inspection records and have every intervention noted, so that you have an up-to-date history.
Who uses cranes, stackers and lifters in a company?
Crane operators, warehouse staff, maintenance workers and logistics staff use this equipment to move materials in a workshop, in a warehouse and on site. A jib crane serves the production line, a stacker serves the warehouse and a goods lift serves the management of floors. Choose the machine according to the most frequent load and the work route.
