50 products · Grinders and Rotary Tools

This collection brings together tools for cutting metals, bars and pipes on site and in the workshop: shears, nibblers, pipe cutters and rebar cutters, in cordless or machine versions.

What you will find in this collection

  • cordless and disc metal shears
  • nibblers, including drill attachments
  • cordless threaded rod cutters and rebar cutters
  • Hydra Cut shears for bars and rebar
  • pipe cutters for copper pipes
  • industrial shears for cutting scrap metal
  • punching machines and punches

Brands included: Makita, Milwaukee, DeWalt, Pasini Reti, Butti and Fervi.

How to choose

The choice depends on the material and the thickness or diameter to be cut: always check the stated cutting capacity. For mobile work on site, cordless models are convenient, while for high volumes and for scrap metal there are sturdier stationary machines. Also check battery compatibility with those you already have, the weight and how easy it is to replace the blades.

Tell us the material, thicknesses and quantities to be cut: AMES Srl will prepare a quotation.

Frequently asked questions: Rebar Cutters, Cordless Pipe Cutters, Nibblers and Shears
What is the difference between a pipe cutter, nibbler, shears and bar cutter?

A pipe cutter cuts tubes with a wheel that tightens until they separate. A nibbler removes small pieces of sheet metal with a stepping action, without heat, and is suited to curved cuts. Shears cut sheet metal and profiles with a sliding blade. A bar cutter is used for threaded bars and rebar. Choose the tool according to the material and the shape of the cut.

Which pipe cutter should I choose for copper, PEX and stainless steel?

The pipe material guides the choice. For copper there are pipe cutters with dedicated wheels, such as the DeWalt model for copper tube. For PEX you need a model designed for this material, such as the Milwaukee C12 PPC. For stainless steel use a pipe cutter and wheel suited to stainless, such as the Milwaukee M12 PCSS. Do not use the same wheel on different materials.

What diameter can a battery bar cutter cut?

The maximum diameter for threaded bars and rebar depends on the model: check the technical sheet before buying or using a battery bar cutter, such as the Milwaukee M18 BLTRC. Exceeding the stated value can damage the blade and tool and make the cut dangerous. For materials other than structural steel, check that the model is indicated for that material.

When do I need battery sheet metal shears?

Battery sheet metal shears, such as the Milwaukee M18 BMS12 and BMS20, are used to cut thin sheet on site, in ducts, light metalwork and work at height, where a chop saw is impractical. For very thick sheet, or for long straight cuts, a bench shear or a fixed machine is better. Check the maximum stated thickness before starting.

How do I choose a nibbler for the thickness of the sheet?

Some nibblers have a value in millimetres in their name, for example 1.6 mm or 3.5 mm on the Milwaukee M12 and M18 FUEL models. This value generally indicates the sheet thickness declared by the manufacturer, so read it carefully. For thicker sheet choose the higher value, while for thin work the lower one is enough. Always check the technical sheet.

How do I use battery pipe cutters and shears safely?

Keep your fingers away from the blade or wheel and clamp the tube or workpiece before cutting. Do not force the tool: if the cut stalls, release it and start again. Remove the battery when changing the wheel or blade. Before cutting pipes on site, check that they are empty and out of service, because a pressurised pipe or a live cable can be very dangerous.

Who uses nibblers and pipe cutters, and for what work?

Plumbers, heating engineers, metal fabricators, air-conditioning installers and industrial maintenance technicians use these tools. Shears and nibblers are used on sheet, ducts and steel profiles, while pipe cutters work on copper, PEX and stainless steel in water and heating systems. They are also useful in the workshop on small pieces.
