What it is
The Fervi ST2A56 taper shank twist drill bit is a metal drilling tool with a diameter of 56 mm, designed for making large-diameter holes on pillar drills and machine tools fitted with a Morse taper spindle. Made to DIN 345/N, it has a 118° point angle and a hardness of 700-740 HV, values that ensure good penetration and long-lasting cutting-edge retention.
A metal drill bit is an HSS or cobalt twist drill, with a straight or taper shank, for drilling steel, non-ferrous metals and plastics.
What it is for
Used for drilling steel, stainless steel and aluminium, on a pillar drill or with a hand-held drill and in workshop machining of steel, aluminium and alloy parts.
How to use it
Clamp the workpiece in a vice, mark the centre and set the speed for the diameter and material: low for hard steels and large diameters, higher for aluminium and plastic. Lubricate with cutting oil on steel; on plastic, reduce the pressure as the bit breaks through to avoid chipping. Insert taper-shank drills into the pillar drill's spindle taper and remove them with a drift.
