What it is
With a diameter of Ø 72 mm, the Fervi ST2A72 taper-shank twist drill bit is designed for drilling large sections on machine tools with a taper seat. Made to DIN 345/N, it has a 118° point angle that allows a progressive cut and good chip ejection in metalworking. The 700-740 HV hardness makes the cutting edge wear-resistant and dimensionally stable.
A metal drill bit is an HSS or cobalt twist drill, with a straight or taper shank, for drilling steel, non-ferrous metals and plastics.
What it is for
Used for drilling steel, stainless steel and aluminium, on a pillar drill or with a hand-held drill and in workshop machining of steel, aluminium and alloy parts.
How to use it
Clamp the workpiece in a vice, mark the centre and set the speed for the diameter and material: low for hard steels and large diameters, higher for aluminium and plastic. Lubricate with cutting oil on steel; on plastic, reduce the pressure as the bit breaks through to avoid chipping. Insert taper-shank drills into the pillar drill's spindle taper and remove them with a drift.
