Trowels, spatulas and floats are steel or plastic hand tools for picking up, spreading, smoothing and finishing mortars, renders, adhesives and skim coats.

What it is for

Used for plastering walls and ceilings, by hand or by machine, in masonry work, from laying blocks to filling chases and for laying mortar.

How to use it

Choose the tool for the task: a bricklaying trowel for laying bricks and blocks, a smooth plastering trowel for skimming, a notched trowel for spreading tile adhesive. Pick up a little material at a time and work with the blade angled, going back over the area to even out the layer.
