A hammer drill is a corded or cordless drill that adds light percussion to rotation so it can drill masonry as well as wood and metal.
What it is for
Used for drilling a range of materials, with the right bit for the substrate and for drilling solid and hollow masonry, clay brick and blocks.
How to use it
Fit the bit suited to the material and tighten it in the chuck. Engage hammer action only for masonry and brick, and switch it off for wood, metal and tiles; set the speed and direction of rotation. Drill with the drill held square to the surface using the side handle, without pushing too hard, and wear safety glasses.
