What it is
Hard backing pad, 220 mm, hook-and-loop, Makita 199938-5. Key specifications: diameter (mm) 220.
A backing pad is the support disc fitted to a sander or grinder that holds sanding paper, fibre discs or polishing pads.
What it is for
Used for sanding surfaces before painting, for finishing walls and for sanding surfaces before treatment.
How to use it
Choose a backing pad with the same diameter, fitting and dust extraction holes as the machine and discs. Fit it with the machine stopped, apply the abrasive with the holes aligned and work flat without forcing, so as not to overheat the hook-and-loop face. Replace it when the hook-and-loop no longer holds or the pad is deformed.
