What it is

An aerator is a small fitting with a mesh that screws onto the tap spout and mixes air into the water jet, making it soft and reducing splashing and water consumption.

Used in the installation and maintenance of plumbing systems.
How to use it
Screw it onto the spout by hand, or with the aerator key, without forcing. When the flow weakens or veers off, unscrew it, remove the limescale from the mesh with vinegar or descaler and refit it, checking the seal.
