What it is

The chin strap is the strap that passes under the chin and holds the helmet on the head; it is replaceable and adjustable, with a buckle or quick-release fastening.
What it is for
Used as personal protective equipment in hazardous work, as personal protective equipment required by the risk assessment and to protect the head from impacts and falling objects.
How to use it
Attach it to the side mounts of the helmet and adjust it so that the helmet stays firmly in place without being too tight. Use only the replacement part designed for that model. Replace it if frayed or if the fastening is damaged.
