A ratchet and socket set is an assortment of sockets, a reversible ratchet, extensions and accessories for tightening and loosening hexagon nuts and bolts.
What it is for
Used in mechanical maintenance of machinery and plant, during scheduled shutdowns or breakdowns and for tightening nuts and bolts where torque must be accurate and repeatable.
How to use it
Choose a socket of the exact nut size and fit it onto a ratchet with the same drive (1/4", 3/8" or 1/2"), setting the direction of rotation with the selector. Pull the ratchet towards you, keeping the socket fully seated, using extensions and universal joints for awkward spots. For specified tightening torques, finish with a torque wrench, and use only impact sockets on impact wrenches.
