What it is

An adjustable wrench, or adjustable spanner, has a movable jaw operated by a worm screw that adapts to nuts and bolts of different sizes.
What it is for
Used in the installation and maintenance of plumbing systems and for tightening nuts and bolts where torque must be accurate and repeatable.
How to use it
Open the jaws, fit them fully onto the nut and turn the worm screw until the jaws make contact without play. Turn the wrench so that the force bears on the fixed jaw, not the movable one. Keep the worm screw clean and lubricated and do not use the wrench as a hammer or with extensions.
