What it is

The DT8240L-QZ 140mm BiM hole saw from DeWalt is a bi-metal (BiM) hole saw designed for cutting 140 mm round holes with clean edges. The bi-metal combines a resilient body with a hard tooth set, ensuring a uniform cut in mixed materials (Multi Material). The pack contains 1 piece, to be paired with the compatible arbor.

A hole saw is a toothed cup which, fitted to a drill with an arbor and pilot drill, cuts large-diameter holes in wood, metal, plastic and plasterboard.

What it is for

Used for drilling wood and panels, for drilling steel, stainless steel and aluminium, on a pillar drill or with a hand-held drill and for running services through walls, floors and suspended ceilings.

How to use it

Fit the hole saw to the arbor with the pilot drill and tighten it in the chuck, setting a lower speed for large diameters and for metal. Centre the hole with the pilot drill and drill square to the surface without hammer action, lubricating on metal. Remove the slug left in the hole saw with the machine stopped, using a screwdriver through the slots.
