47 products · Chemical Products for Surfaces and Cleaning

This collection brings together cleaners, degreasers and detergents for the workshop, maintenance and industry. They are used to remove oil, grease, glue and adhesive residues, technical dirt and oxidation from machines, spare parts and surfaces. The brands included are Faren, Chemical Roadmaster, NPT Sigill, Fervi, Firma Chimica and A.M.E.S.

What you will find

  • Degreasers: in aerosol cans, in trigger-spray bottles and in drums, for technical and industrial use.
  • Brake and carburettor cleaners: sprays for cleaning discs, pads and throttle bodies.
  • Electrical contact cleaners: clean and protect contacts.
  • Adhesive and glue removers: remove residues of glue and labels.
  • Industrial detergents: formulated for surfaces and plant, in large packs.

How to choose

It depends on the dirt to be removed and the material to be treated: not all products are suitable for plastic, rubber or painted parts. The pack size also matters, from the spray for a one-off job to the drum for continuous use. Always read the safety data sheet and use the protective equipment indicated.

Frequently asked questions: Cleaners - Degreasers
What are degreaser sprays for the workshop used for?

Degreasers remove oil, grease, technical dirt and residues of glues and adhesives from machines, spare parts and surfaces. The spray reaches awkward parts without wetting the whole piece. Before use, read the product's safety data sheet, which sets out the hazards, the protective equipment and the types of surface it is compatible with.

Which degreaser format should I choose: spray, bottle or jerrycan?

The spray is handy for small parts and hard-to-reach spots. The trigger-spray bottle suits repeated jobs on larger surfaces, while the jerrycan is intended for intensive technical and industrial use. Choose the format according to how often you use it and the surface to be treated. Keep every container closed and away from heat sources.

Which brake cleaner should I choose and how do you use it?

For discs, pads and clutches there are dedicated spray cleaners, such as the Faren Brake Cleaner, the Jet NPT Sigill spray cleaner for brakes and clutches and the WD-40 motorcycle brake cleaner. Spray onto cold components with the engine off, and let it dry completely before refitting. Check in the product sheet that the product is suitable for the material of the component.

Can I use a degreaser on plastic or paint?

Not all degreasers are compatible with plastics, rubbers and paints. Some solvents can dull, soften or damage these materials. Before using it on a painted or plastic surface, test it in a hidden spot and wait a few minutes. Check the product's technical data sheet for compatibility with the materials to be treated.

How do you use a degreaser in an enclosed space?

Work with good ventilation, opening doors and windows or using an extractor fan. Solvent vapours build up in confined spaces. Keep naked flames and heat sources away, and wear gloves and safety glasses as indicated in the safety data sheet. Do not pour the product down the drain and collect residues in closed containers.

What is the difference between a deoxidiser and a degreaser?

A degreaser removes grease, oil and dirt, while a deoxidiser removes oxidation from metal surfaces. The catalogue includes dry and oily deoxidisers in spray form. The dry type leaves no oily film and is used where a clean contact is needed, as with electrical contacts. The oily type protects the metal from moisture and leaves a thin film of lubrication.

Which product should I use to clean air conditioners?

For air conditioners the catalogue has a foaming spray cleaner, a sanitiser and a descaler, all from Faren. The descaler works against limescale, the foaming cleaner against dirt and the sanitiser for the hygiene of the internal parts. Before using them, switch off and unplug the appliance, and check in the product sheet that the product is suitable for the type of system.

What are the risks of degreasers to the skin and airways at work?

Many degreasers strip the skin's natural oils and can irritate it, so suitable gloves are needed, as indicated in the product sheet. The vapours can irritate the airways, especially in enclosed spaces. The employer must assess the chemical risk under Italian Legislative Decree 81/2008 on workplace safety and provide the necessary protective equipment. Wash your hands after use.
