What it is
Building line. Key specifications: length (m) 100, diameter (mm) 1,8, pack (pcs) 18.
Builder's line is a thin line, usually nylon and in a highly visible colour, which when stretched between two points serves as a guide for aligning brickwork, courses, levels and floors.
What it is for
Used in masonry work, from laying blocks to filling chases, for floor laying, from the screed to the finish and for marking out lines, dimensions and reference points before work begins.
How to use it
Tie or secure it at both ends to pegs, nails or line pins placed at the ends of the stretch to be aligned, and pull it taut so that it does not sag. Check it with the spirit level and move it up as the work rises. Make sure it does not touch the material already laid, and re-tension it if it has slackened.
