A folding rule is a rigid rule, jointed or straight, made of wood, fibreglass or aluminium, for measuring and marking out; this category also includes tape measures for upholsterers.
What it is for
Used for measuring on site and in the workshop.
How to use it
Open the folding rule one section at a time until it clicks into place, without forcing the joints the wrong way. Place the start of the scale on the reference edge and read looking down, perpendicular to the scale. Keep the joints clean and store the rule folded to avoid breaking the sections.
