What it is
Unifix snap cotter pins (code 0472-45-01 and variants) are the practical solution for quick, secure fixings in mechanical and industrial applications. Designed for professionals who require precision and reliability, these cotter pins ensure an effective lock without the use of additional tools.
A split pin or cotter pin is a ring or pin of steel that is passed through a cross hole in a pin or bolt to prevent the nut or part from coming off. Snap-type pins are also available, which clip in place without bending the ends.
What it is for
Used for mechanical fixing of structures and components to walls, ceilings and floors, in mechanical maintenance of machinery and plant, during scheduled shutdowns or breakdowns and for assembly work.
How to use it
Choose the diameter suited to the hole in the pin. Insert it in the hole: split pins are locked by bending the two legs, snap-type ones close by clipping themselves in. To remove them, straighten or unclip them, and bent split pins are usually replaced, because the metal is weakened.
