What it is

A utility knife, or box cutter, is a tool with a snap-off segmented or fixed blade, for cutting cardboard, paper, carpet, membranes, tapes and other lightweight materials.

How to use it

Extend the blade only as far as needed and cut by pulling towards you along a straight edge, keeping the free hand out of the line of cut. For thick materials, make several light passes. With segmented blades, snap off the worn section to always have a fresh edge. Retract the blade after use.
