Lanyards and Energy Absorbers

Lanyards and energy absorbers are components of fall arrest systems: the lanyard connects the harness to the anchor point, while the energy absorber reduces the force transmitted to the body in the event of a fall. They are used for work at height, on roofs, scaffolding, steel structures and pylons.

How to choose

Consider the type of work, the length of the lanyard and the clearance below your feet: in a fall the absorber extends and the space must be sufficient. A twin lanyard lets you move while always remaining connected. Check that connectors, harness and anchor point are compatible with each other. For this category III PPE, the EN 354 (lanyards) and EN 355 (absorbers) standards apply, as well as operator training and periodic inspections.
