Tile adhesive

Frequently asked questions: Adhesives
Which adhesive should I choose for bonding without screws or nails?

The choice depends on the materials to be joined, the environment and the load to be supported. Polyurethane and assembly adhesives bond many building and furniture materials, while epoxies are suited to structural bonding. For small repairs, instant or all-purpose glues are what you need. Before bonding, clean and degrease the surfaces, because preparation affects the hold more than the choice of product.

One-part or two-part adhesive: what is the difference?

A one-part adhesive is ready to use and is applied directly from the cartridge or tube; many cure by reacting with moisture in the air. A two-part adhesive requires mixing two parts, resin and hardener, in the proportions given by the manufacturer. The collection includes Verdelook MONO in 310 ml or 1 kg and Verdelook BICOMPONENTE. The two-part product must be used immediately after mixing, because the mixture has a limited working time.

Cement-based tile adhesive: which variant should I choose?

Cement-based adhesives are prepared by mixing the powder with water and spread with a notched trowel. In the Aderflex range you will find variants with different codes, such as DK, KR and RP, and one of them is high-adhesion. Read the product page to understand which substrate and which type of tile they suit, and choose according to the environment, such as bathroom, kitchen or outdoors.

Which adhesive for parquet and wooden floors?

Wooden floors need hard-elastic adhesives, designed to follow the movements of the wood caused by moisture. The collection includes one-part polyurethane adhesives for parquet and a two-part epoxy-polyurethane from the 2K-Bond Contract line, as well as a solvent-free, isocyanate-free adhesive. Check compatibility with the type of floor and with the substrate, and ventilate the room during installation.

Artificial grass adhesive: how is it used?

Artificial grass adhesive is used to fix the artificial turf to the substrate and to join the rolls where seams are needed. It is used on terraces, balconies, gardens and outdoor surfaces. The substrate must be clean, flat and dry, because any irregularities will show through the turf. Read the product page for the quantity to spread and the setting time, and follow the turf manufacturer's instructions.

Marine adhesives, gasket adhesives and sealants: when are they needed?

Marine adhesive is designed for damp environments exposed to water and temperature changes. High-temperature gasket adhesive is for places where the heat is more intense, for example near engines or stoves. The Poly Max High Tack clear sealant creates a flexible, clean joint. Choose according to the environment and the temperature stated on the product page.

How do you use adhesives safely?

Always read the safety data sheet and the label before opening the container, because every adhesive has different instructions for contact with skin and eyes. Work in a ventilated area, wear gloves suited to the product and do not eat or smoke while using it. Polyurethanes react with moisture, so close the packs again straight away. Dispose of residues in accordance with local regulations, without pouring them down the drain.
