What it is
Hinged compass with stand Metrica. Key specifications: accessories / consumables Plastic case included.
A compass, or pair of dividers, is an instrument with two hinged legs for scribing circles and arcs, transferring measurements or, in inside and outside caliper versions, comparing diameters.
What it is for
Used for measuring on site and in the workshop and for marking out lines, dimensions and reference points before work begins.
How to use it
Open the compass to the required measurement, taken from a rule or a sample part, and lock it with the screw or spring. To scribe, set one leg at the centre and rotate the other with light, steady pressure. For diameters, bring the points into contact with the workpiece without forcing, then read the opening on a caliper or rule.
