TCT core bits for masonry work with the rotary hammer in hammer mode, diamond core bits without hammer action, wet or dry depending on the type. Once the core bit has cut a groove, the pilot drill can be removed; continue with moderate pressure, withdrawing the tool frequently to clear the dust.
