What it is

The DeWalt DT50015-QZ is a titanium drill bit of 9 mm diameter with an HSS cutting edge, designed for drilling metal with impact drivers. It has a working length of 50 mm and a total length of 102 mm, for a good compromise between drilling depth and tool control.

A metal drill bit is an HSS, cobalt or coated twist drill for drilling steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals and plastic with a drill or drill driver.

How to use it

Mark the centre with a centre punch, clamp the workpiece and drill at a speed that is lower the larger the diameter and the harder the material. Maintain steady pressure, lubricate with cutting oil on steel and stainless steel and, for large diameters, drill a pilot hole first. Withdraw the bit frequently to clear the swarf, and never touch the swarf with bare hands.
