What it is
The Fervi ST1A15.75R13 straight-shank twist drill bit is a cutting tool with a Ø 15.75 mm diameter and a reduced Ø 13 mm shank, designed for drilling steel and other metallic materials even with chucks smaller than the nominal diameter. The 118° point angle aids centring and smooth feed during machining.
A metal drill bit is an HSS or cobalt twist drill, with a straight or taper shank, for drilling steel, non-ferrous metals and plastics.
What it is for
Used for drilling steel, stainless steel and aluminium, on a pillar drill or with a hand-held drill and in workshop machining of steel, aluminium and alloy parts.
How to use it
Clamp the workpiece in a vice, mark the centre and set the speed for the diameter and material: low for hard steels and large diameters, higher for aluminium and plastic. Lubricate with cutting oil on steel; on plastic, reduce the pressure as the bit breaks through to avoid chipping. Insert taper-shank drills into the pillar drill's spindle taper and remove them with a drift.
