What it is
The TerrainMapper-3 linear-mode LiDAR sensor Leica is intended for professional use in the following contexts:
Laser and surveying instruments include laser distance meters, laser levels, rotary lasers, GNSS receivers and machine control systems, with tripods and accessories, for measuring and setting out.
What it is for
Used for topographic surveying and site setting-out.
How to use it
Set the instrument on a tripod or stable base, away from vibration, and let it self-level or level it manually. Before starting, check accuracy against a known reference and, outdoors, use the detector or staff to read the beam. Never look into the laser beam, and transport the instrument switched off in its case.
Where it is used

Linear-mode LiDAR sensor TerrainMapper-3 Leica (Leica) — The all-in-one sensor for versatile airborne LiDAR mapping Integrated into the MFC250 camera module, the new sensor sets a new benchmark for image data collection. A major landslide triggered by rapid warming in Denali National Park and Preserve forced restrictions at the halfway point of the park road in 2021, significantly reducing access to Alaska’s most popular tourist destination. Woolpert purchased its first Leica TerrainMapper in early 2019 and has since acquired three more. Today, the TerrainMapper is Woolpert’s preferred technology for large area mapping and difficult terrain. Solspec collects higher point densities with the Leica TerrainMapper and delivers information in a fraction of the time using Leica HxMap and the SolSpec Engine on the cloud.
