What it is

Sealing tape is a thick self-adhesive tape, in butyl, bitumen or with aluminium foil, that seals joints and overlaps of membranes, sheet metal and frames, making them airtight and watertight.

What it is for

Used for waterproofing roofs, terraces and below-ground structures, for roof maintenance and for sealing joints, gaps and service penetrations.

How to use it

Clean and dry the substrate, removing dust and grease, and work at a temperature that is not too low. Lay the tape without stretching it, remove the protective film and press it down firmly with a small roller along its whole length, especially at the edges. At joints, overlap the lengths by a few centimetres, and avoid UV exposure for types not suited to outdoor use.
