A pneumatic or hydraulic rock drill is a percussion and rotation tool powered by compressed air or pressurised oil, used to drill rock, concrete and masonry with drill rods and bits, mainly on excavation and demolition sites.

How to use it

Connect it to its power source (compressor or hydraulic power pack), checking hoses, fittings and lubrication. Fit the drill rod with the right bit, lock it in the chuck and start drilling with moderate feed pressure, letting the machine do the work. Take breaks to limit vibration, and wear ear defenders, safety glasses, a dust mask, anti-vibration gloves and safety footwear.
