What it is
Cordless random orbital sander XGT® Makita BO004CGZ. Key specifications: battery voltage (V) 40, orbits per minute (min⁻¹) 6000 - 10000, backing pad diameter (mm) 150.
An orbital or random orbital sander is an electric, cordless or air tool that oscillates an abrasive pad to sand wood, paint, filler and metals.
What it is for
Used for sanding surfaces before painting, for sanding surfaces, as preparation or as a finish and for sanding wood before varnishing or finishing.
How to use it
Apply a disc of the appropriate grit to the hook-and-loop pad, lining up the holes for dust extraction, and connect a dust extractor or collection bag. Rest the sander on the surface before starting it and move it in criss-cross passes, letting the weight of the tool do the work. Work through the grits progressively, from coarsest to finest, wearing a dust mask.
