What it is

The DeWalt Black & Gold bit, code DT20613-QZ, is fitted with a 6.35 mm (1/4'') hex shank and is designed for use with impact drivers. With a working diameter of 8.5 mm, it is among the largest sizes in the range, ideal for the widest holes, and keeps the distinctive black & gold finish together with a firm coupling to the tool holder.

A metal drill bit is an HSS or cobalt twist drill, with a straight or taper shank, for drilling steel, non-ferrous metals and plastics.

What it is for

Used for drilling steel, stainless steel and aluminium, on a pillar drill or with a hand-held drill and in workshop machining of steel, aluminium and alloy parts.

How to use it

Clamp the workpiece in a vice, mark the centre and set the speed for the diameter and material: low for hard steels and large diameters, higher for aluminium and plastic. Lubricate with cutting oil on steel; on plastic, reduce the pressure as the bit breaks through to avoid chipping. Insert taper-shank drills into the pillar drill's spindle taper and remove them with a drift.
