Flat chisel, DeWalt DT6942-QZ

What it is

The DeWalt DT6942-QZ flat chisel is a demolition accessory with a 25 mm wide flat blade and hex shank, designed for removal and cutting work on concrete. With a working length of 400 mm and an overall length of 43.5 cm, it keeps a low weight of 0.98 kg that makes it easier to control, while the flat blade is suited to stripping coverings, roughing out and levelling cementitious surfaces.

A demolition chisel is a steel tool with an SDS-Plus, SDS-Max or hex shank that, fitted to a hammer, breaks up concrete, masonry and tiles.

What it is for

Used for demolishing masonry and concrete structures, for light demolition, chasing and localised removal and for chiselling concrete, masonry and plaster.

How to use it

Choose the shape: pointed for breaking, flat or spade for scaling and removing tiles, channel for chasing. Grease the shank, insert it into the chuck of the hammer set to chiselling only and work letting the machine's weight do the job, without using the chisel as a lever. Wear safety glasses, gloves and ear defenders, and have the chisel resharpened or replace it when the cutting edge is worn.
