An orbital or random orbital sander is an electric, cordless or air tool that oscillates an abrasive pad to sand wood, paint, filler and metals.
What it is for
Used for sanding surfaces before painting, for sanding wood before varnishing or finishing and for sanding surfaces before treatment.
How to use it
Apply a disc of the appropriate grit to the hook-and-loop pad, lining up the holes for dust extraction, and connect a dust extractor or collection bag. Rest the sander on the surface before starting it and move it in criss-cross passes, letting the weight of the tool do the work. Work through the grits progressively, from coarsest to finest, wearing a dust mask.
