Opening lifting blocks

What it is

These are openable snatch blocks: pulleys with a swivel hook that open so the rope can be inserted at any point, without having to thread it in from the end. They have a steel crosspiece and pin and are suited to hemp ropes and manual use. They come in two sizes: 1000 kg capacity with a 100 mm wheel and 2000 kg capacity with a 140 mm wheel.

The pulley block is a single- or multi-sheave pulley in an openable housing, with a hook, used to lift or pull loads with a rope.

Used for lifting loads, with accessories rated for the weight involved.

How to use it

Select it according to the working load limit and the rope diameter. Open it, insert the rope and close it again, then attach it to a solid anchor point with a hook or carabiner and pull the free end. Several pulley blocks in sequence reduce the effort. Grease and inspect it regularly.
