What it is
The Fervi P023/07.00L3 is a straight-shank twist drill bit from the extra-long series, dedicated to particularly deep drilling in metal. Made of steel, with a diameter of Ø 7 mm, it has a 135° point angle and a hardness between 770 and 830 HV; its length reaches about 30 times the diameter (~30xD), a high ratio that makes it a specific tool for very long holes. The straight shank allows mounting in standard chucks.
A metal drill bit is an HSS or cobalt twist drill, with a straight or taper shank, for drilling steel, non-ferrous metals and plastics.
What it is for
Used for drilling steel, stainless steel and aluminium, on a pillar drill or with a hand-held drill and in workshop machining of steel, aluminium and alloy parts.
How to use it
Clamp the workpiece in a vice, mark the centre and set the speed for the diameter and material: low for hard steels and large diameters, higher for aluminium and plastic. Lubricate with cutting oil on steel; on plastic, reduce the pressure as the bit breaks through to avoid chipping. Insert taper-shank drills into the pillar drill's spindle taper and remove them with a drift.
