What it is
Fervi P023/11.00L2 straight-shank twist drill bit from the extra-long series, made for deep drilling in metals. The diameter of Ø 11 mm, the 135° point angle and the hardness of 770÷830 HV ensure precise starting and a smooth cut even on substantial thicknesses. The length, about 20 times the diameter, makes it possible to clear the bulk of the workpiece or fixtures while keeping the hole straight.
A metal drill bit is an HSS or cobalt twist drill, with a straight or taper shank, for drilling steel, non-ferrous metals and plastics.
What it is for
Used for drilling steel, stainless steel and aluminium, on a pillar drill or with a hand-held drill and in workshop machining of steel, aluminium and alloy parts.
How to use it
Clamp the workpiece in a vice, mark the centre and set the speed for the diameter and material: low for hard steels and large diameters, higher for aluminium and plastic. Lubricate with cutting oil on steel; on plastic, reduce the pressure as the bit breaks through to avoid chipping. Insert taper-shank drills into the pillar drill's spindle taper and remove them with a drift.
